Coach Spencer Berry's Story
Coach Berry has been tied to the game of basketball since he could walk. With his family having Lakers season tickets his entire life, Spencer’s earliest memories included getting to shoot hoops and play with family and friends at the Great Western Forum.
His passion for the game runs deep. He participated in local camps and played for AAU teams his whole life. He attended Nipomo High School and was part of the school’s first-ever CIF appearance.
His father, Steve Berry, created one of the very first travel teams in the area. Following in his father’s footsteps is his #1 goal.
He attended Allan Hancock College before transferring to Palomer College on a mission to play junior college basketball. A torn meniscus prevented that from happening, but that injury is really what jump-started his coaching career.
He finished up school with a BA from Cal-State Northridge, and shot back up to the Central Coast to coach and teach the game that he loves to kids growing up in the same area as he did.
“I truly believe in hard work, dedication, and self-discipline.”
